Ukrainian Community
Picture
Clawson Lodge is immediately recognizable as the work of local Nottingham architect, Watson Fothergill. The Building dated 1885, is Grade II listed, and today is the home of the Ukrainian Culture Centre in Nottingham, which is run by Nottingham branch of the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain (AUGB). The AUGB was founded in 1948 as a non-profit making community organisation to promote social, educational and cultural activities for UK residents of Ukrainian descent. It has over the years fostered a wide range of activities and groups including a Ukrainian language school, choral and orchestral societies, dancing, theatrical and youth groups.

The Ukrainian community has always been very open and welcoming to all nationalities and today's community is made up of a wide cross-section of the population, including many 'non-Ukrainians'. The activities of the community are now run by second and third generation Ukrainians who still keep alive the culture and traditions of their parents. We provide services ranging from a weekly day centre for the most elderly members of the community, to scout groups for our youngsters.
The Ukrainian Community moved to Clawson Lodge in 2003, and the building has been carefully restored to it's former glory, mainly by the physical efforts and donations of the community itself. We have enhanced the existing facilities by linking the original building with the somewhat newer annex, to provide a hall and conferencing facility, together with two bars and excellently specified kitchen, not forgetting our attractive landscaped gardens.

Clawson Lodge is available for hire for all, and we cater for a wide variety of clients ranging from local meetings and organisations, Parties, Weddings, Wakes and Conferences etc. Sound, lighting and IT facilities can all be provided in house.
We welcome all local residents to make use of our facilities. Please contact us if you are interested in hiring our premises, or if you would be interested in becoming a member. Come and visit us at this hidden gem in the heart of Carrington.
